Termination of residence of a third-country national

Main information

If you decide to terminate your residence in the Czech Republic, hand in your biometric card at the corresponding Ministry of the Interior office 3 days before the termination of your residence. At the MoI office you will be issued with a departure order, on the basis of which you will be able to leave the territory of the Czech Republic. 

Departure order will not be granted if you are subject of a visa-free stay on the basis of a bilateral agreement or if you are subject to a Schengen visa.

No later than 3 days before your residence permit expires.

What you need if you are using this service

If you decide to terminate your residence in the Czech Republic, hand in your residence card to the relevant Ministry of the Interior office 3 days before the end of your residence.

Where and how to solve this service

You must hand in your residence permit in person at a Ministry of the Interior office from your catchment area.

You can also send your residence permit to the office by post. In this case, send it to the address of the office from your catchment according to your reported address of residence as registered or certified mail.
